Why buy a second hand piano?

Second hand pianos are generally cheaper than new pianos, offering better value for money. Also with second hand pianos as they have been played before they are 'played in' meaning you often don't get the teething problems that sometimes occur in new pianos.

You can sometimes pick up a gem of a second hand piano! There are quite a few piano manufacturers that are no longer in business that made some fantastic pianos and the only way you find one of those is second hand. Pianos like Ibach, a quality German manufacturer or Chappell and Bentley who were British piano makers made some great pianos.
