I've had this piano for two weeks now and I'm still surprised every time I play it by how good it is. Having played piano for about 20 years I've always been very skeptical of digital pianos, especially as my first memory of them was a low end Clavinova 15 yrs ago. My current house doesn't leave me with enough space for my proper piano (which is sadly in storage), and I was concerned about how much noise an ordinary upright might create for our neighbours. So it seemed that digital pianos might be a necessary evil. I set a few very clear priorities before I went looking, for me keyboard touch was the most important factor, after that sound quality, space, and aesthetics. After a little research the Kawai CA51 stood out because of its keyboard action, 'virtual technician', and price. I visited some helpful shops and tried a few other digital pianos, eventually I found myself at Sheargolds with some headphones and borrowed sheet music trying the CA51. The experience confirmed my research and my mind was made up. Whilst I very much liked the polished ebony version I first saw, I decided that the dark rosewood was a more sensible price - particularly as I may only have the instrument for a year or two. In summary, the piano is great and my experience of dealing with Sheargolds couldn't have been better. Whilst I naturally look forward to a bigger house and the return of my Yamaha C3, I am happy that I can enjoy playing in the meantime.
